Paradise Farms is a certified organic, regenerative, sustainable fruit and vegetable farm in southeast Florida. The farm comprises 17 acres of tropical fruit trees, specialty crops, and over an acre of vegetable cropland, with more coming into production. This farm serves a vibrant holistic community of passionate customers through its CSA, through participation in Miami-based Farmers Markets, feeding products to area restaurants, and its sister company, The Sacred Space event venue located in Miami, FL. Additionally, the farm is evolving into a destination for wellness education, retreats, tours, and onsite events. The spirit of Paradise Farms dictates care for the land, holistic healing, conscience living, and an internal passion for the project as a whole. The farm was built on metaphysical, sacred, and spiritual principles that drive its direction and development.

We seek a highly motivated and passionate individual or team to lead all the farm's growing, outreach, sales, and growth efforts. We need a highly organized doer who can plan and execute on the daily, seasonal, and annual plans and deliverables for the property. We seek thoughtful leaders who can build the farm team into a productive, joyful, focused family that works and dreams together and manifests our collective vision into tangible outcomes.

Position Overview:

The Farm Manager will oversee the day-to-day operation of the farm and execute its growth and expansion. The manager has the primary responsibility for the planning, coordination, and implementation of all work, activities, and production at Paradise Farms. The Farm Manager’s focus should be sustainably growing the highest quality organic and biodynamic vegetables, fruits, microgreens, mushrooms, and specialty products to surprise and delight Miami’s finest chefs, farmers' markets, and farm stay guests.
This position requires a passionate commitment to local food systems and the environment with proven experience in a similar role, strong, practical knowledge of organic agriculture, and 21st-century farm management practices.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement crop production, rotation, and seed-saving plans for continual harvest throughout the season and sustainable practices to ensure healthy harvests into the future
Perform the appropriate tractor work for field preparation and cultivation
Increase soil fertility through soil testing, composting, compost teas, cover crop, and amendment planning
Hire, lead, delegate, supervise, train and mentor employees, interns, and volunteers in all farm labor and activities
Provide direct leadership to your team and meet daily to overcome barriers to success, provide daily and weekly work plans, and lead and teach individual team members to excel.
Ensure the highest quality and food safety standards during growth, harvest, washing, and packing of produce
Maintain all planting, harvest, input, and market records needed for organic and regenerative certification
Implement an effective integrated pest management strategy
Create and maintain an attractive farm aesthetic at all times
Work with senior leadership to design future infrastructure to maximize production efficiency while maintaining and improving the land and our mission
Proactively protect farm equipment, tools, irrigation, and infrastructure through scheduled maintenance and recordkeeping
Promote collaborative staff dynamic and encourage open and honest communication
Provide on time weekly status reports for the leadership team and proactively communicates all necessary information to maintain and improve our momentum
Provides weekly work schedules to adequately staff the farm operation, the CSA program, and farmer's markets with people, processes, and tools to extend our products and principles to the community
Ensure that at all times, the land is managed to ensure all of our certifications (organic, regenerative, Real Organic, and others).

Financial Management
Create and report on annual crop plans, tree fruit plans, projections, and budgets
Create and maintain detailed crop documentation and harvest/yield data
Provide accurate records of income and expenses to the bookkeeper
Coordinate with bookkeeper to develop systems, update logs, manage farm budget, and aim to meet financial goals
Review all calendar items, order forms, daily and weekly task reports, sales reports, and delivery sheets, then coordinate production accordingly to achieve farm goals and log results
Analyze yearly performance to increase efficiencies and cut waste

Community Outreach and Education:

This role is frequently called upon the act as the onsite ambassador who shares our mission and vision with visiting dignitaries, potential wholesale customers, visitors, and the press
Promote the farm in the local community wherever and whenever possible
Maintain and enhance collaborations and key partnerships
Generate demand for farm products
Connect and encourage the organic farm community locally and beyond
Coordinate and lead dinners, tours, learning events, and sales meetings at Paradise and direct farm education events for people of all ages, which can include field trips, farm tours, cooking and nutrition demos, and community-led workshops

Requirements

Skilled in Google Suite business applications
Experience in farm management software products (Tend is a plus)
Can write and amend work schedules and evaluate and review team members under your supervision
Can accurately manage expenses and spending by gaining competitive quotes, reviewing contracts and agreements, and acting with a high degree of integrity with the farms' assets
Five+ years of leading an organic farm team to provable results and outcomes
Culinary awareness and/or product development experience a plus

Salary: Commensurate with experience
