Hi there. I own 53+ acres of pastureland in Paige, Texas, 45 minutes east of Austin. My girlfriend and I are in the process of opening a glamping business on the front 10+ acres or so, and are hoping to lease ~40 acres to a regenerative, holistic minded farmer. Our long term vision / hope (post COVID) is to make our glamping business communal in nature. So, think a mix between an upscale campground and a hostel. We want to bring people from all walks of life together for shared experiences. The most important part of that vision will be communal dinners that we host on Friday and Saturday night. The hope is that food that’s produced on the farm by you could be sold directly to guests, and the wastes then put back in the soil.

While we’d love to do the farming ourselves, we unfortunately don’t have the time. We’ve been incredibly inspired by the work of people like Joel Salatin and the Savory Institute, and would love to work long term with an individual or couple who shares our values of prioritizing biodiversity, a humane life for livestock, increasing water retention, and improving the quality of the soil. We will prioritize long term leases, and need to work with someone who is okay with guests (21+, no kids) exploring the farm and property.

Location Specifics

45 minutes east of Austin, 1.5 hours west of Houston, 1.5 hours north of San Antonio

Land Description

We have 53 acres, of which we'd be looking to lease out ~ 35-40. There are three stock tanks available, the property is fully fenced (and somewhat cross fenced) and the grass is primarily composed of bermuda grass. The property is located within the Post Oak Savannah, and is mostly open feels dotted with towering oaks. The land is relatively flat, and had been previously grazed by the past owner.

Goals/Vision for Farm

Our vision for the farm is one that prioritizes diversity, water retention, soil health, and the humane treatment of the animals raised on our land. Our hope is to eventually incorporate our hospitality business with your farming practices, creating a symbiotic, land based, local economy that allows our guests to have a restful, healthy, invigorating stay at our place.

We hope to someday be able to incorporate your business with ours, allowing you to sell your animals / produce to our guests. We would want someone who is independent minded, yet also willing to work with us on various issues that may arise, due to the complexity of what we are trying to create. We want someone who is inclined to join the community that we are attempting to build.

Housing provided

We won't provide housing, but have showers + toilets that you could have access to. Would also be willing to explore bringing power to a trailer etc that you may provide. Our ideal vision is to have you stay on the land, but are also open to you coming and going as you please.

Qualifications Required

5+ years in-field experience

Application Process

We'd love to chat more on the phone, and if it feels like the right fit, have you out for a visit in person.
