Farm Hand In Carlton, OR -Seeking a self-motivated, skilled individual with at least 2 years of practical farm and animal handling experience. We are looking for someone who is passionate about regenerative farming and is well versed in at least one or two of the following subjects: rotational grazing, soil building principles, forestry, silvopasturing. Farm hand(s) will be involved in all aspects of Tabula Rasa Farms’ pasture-based livestock production including Dexter & Highland cattle, American Guinea hogs, laying hens, meat birds, as well as miniature donkeys who serve as groundskeepers.
The position also involves but is not limited to basic carpentry, tractor work, basic mechanics, simple plumbing, grounds maintenance, and simple record keeping. During the summer you may be expected to work with interns and agri-tourists.
Hours of Work: This is a full time position requiring 45-60 hours of work.Farm Hands will have 2 days off,except in special situations and days off are not always weekends.
Compensation: This position is a full time, salaried position. Compensation based on skills and experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following:
Assisting in all day to day farm activities
Animal care (feeding, watering, birthing, moving fences and assisting with associated treatments)
Assisting in Developing rotational grazing plans, moving animals, cost analysis.
Field work (mowing, haying, seasonal planting, building fences and waterlines)
Occasional construction or repairs of new or existing farm buildings, structures and facilities
Assist fellow TRF staff and interns with farm related projects
Other duties as required
