Peaceful 90 acre cattle farm in south central Kentucky. Beginning South Poll cattle breeding/beef operation. We raise dairy sheep and chickens (meat and layers) for personal use. Raise pigs on occasion for consumption. Regenerative agricultural/permaculture/organic practices. Looking to create a food forest-type garden in existing new orchard. Considering specialty crops suited to our terrain.

Farm located within 30 mins of several local farmers markets, 1 hour from Bowling Green markets, 2 hours from Nashville, Louisville and Lexington markets.

Land Description

Peaceful 90 acre cattle farm in south central Kentucky. Farm has approximately 45 acres of pasture and balance in hardwood forest. Hilly terrain. Springs and streams, small pond.
Infrastructure includes large main cattle barn with squeeze, hay barn, tool shed, garden shed, run-in shed. Current equipment includes 375 MF tractor with loader, auger and bushhog. Side by side, quad and 4x4 farm truck used to haul water. Perimeter and cross fenced with barbed wire. Portable electric fencing (reel and net).

Farm was purchased in 2018 and moved onto 2019. Was vacant for 6 years prior to purchase.

Goals/Vision for Farm

Beginning South Poll cattle breeding/beef operation. Developing product and marketing programs for the farm. Bring your creative business/marketing plans to expand existing livestock operations. There are also potential opportunities for meat chicken, produce, herb, fruit, flower or specialty crop businesses. We will help provide livestock, materials and infrastructure. Develop marketing and assisting in creation of website for the farm. Help in determining needed equipment and livestock purchases. Looking for a long-term partner.

Additionally the job will include assisting owner with daily operation of the farm, moving cattle and sheep, building and repairing fencing, clearing trails, doctoring animals as needed, preparing and planting gardens, bushhogging, developing water infrastructure utilizing wind energy etc.

Housing provided

Position includes newly remodeled 1 bedroom walkout basement apartment with full kitchen and bath, washer/dryer, storage and parking area . Utilities included. Will share in meat and produce grown on the farm. Hunting in season (deer/turkey) is included.

Qualifications Required

Individual or couple. You must be hardworking, self-motivated, dependable and detail oriented, looking a long-term opportunity to build a farm business for your future. Emotionally mature. Ability to take direction, but also feel free to give recommendations for improving operations. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Understand that farming is not always a 9-5 job, and requires working in all types of weather.
Preference given to a couple with experience, strong Christian beliefs and nursing /medic training.
Must be non-smoking and no drugs, zero tolerance policy. Occasional alcohol consumption ok.
