Description

Description

Looking for a husband and wife team, a family with children or no. Best to have personal experience, better to have generational experience. There is so much potential In the land here. We are a small family run Inn on this hundred acre farm. Our last farming family did a great job considering they both had full-time jobs and two children. They recently bought a house, not far from here and hope to continue raising the sheep as they found that was something they could fit into their busy lives.
We’re not looking for a farm manager per se, a combination might be better, but we are flexible and do want us all to succeed.

Location Specifics

Beautiful location on the Chesapeake Bay. Rural , quiet but not far from big population areas.

Land Description

60 acres have been leased for decades to local farmer in corn/soybean rotation. We had always hoped to switch to grazing animals and maybe a perennial crop
25 acres was farmed back in early 2000s organically/biodynamically and has been kept as clean as possible since then. Some of that acreage is fenced. there is a small irrigation pond and a 5acre pond and a wooded area. All flatland.

Goals/Vision for Farm

The way the deck is stacked we think having the farm support one family would be an achievement but we believe it is possible. We buy our meat from someone about an hour from here who has been able to make their farm profitable. We also have our guests who are a built in customer base. I know this is vague but we can talk specifics as we go. We prefer any animal farming and pasture management follow the Salatin model.

Housing provided

There is a converted barn with 5 bedrooms or a small cottage with 2 bedrooms depending which is the best fit.
